This course is now approved by the IQCB / QEEGDB to satisfy their new blueprint of knowledge.

In this course, you will gain access to Dr Perl’s knowledge and experience with EEG and QEEG. During this course we will review EEG analysis, derived from single and multiple channel (full cap EEG) devices. Attendees will learn to review EEG with the WinEEG and NeuroGuide systems, including LORETA EEG source analysis. The course includes practica on full cap EEG recording, analysis and neurofeedback using the WinEEG and NeuroGuide systems.

This course is accredited by the International QEEG Certification Board (IQCB, formally QEEGCB) and fulfills the IQCB course blueprint for QEEG Diplomate certification.

Day 1 will be a practical workshop, focusing on the fundamentals of recording EEG and can be attended separately to Days 2-4. However, attendance at all four days and the online components are required for IQCB (QEEG) Diplomate certification.

Description

This course is now approved by the IQCB / QEEGDB to satisfy their new blueprint of knowledge.

EEG is the precise, complex and elegant expression of the myriad activities that go on ceaselessly in the brain, as it interfaces both inwardly and outwardly. Failures in the EEG lead to a wide variety of disturbances, including many psychological disorders.

This four-day course (plus additional online learning) is appropriate for any practitioner who wants to increase their understanding of EEG or wants to become a QEEG Diplomate (QEEGD). Day One can be attended separately to Days Two-Four, but attendance at all four days as well as the online learning components is required to satisfy the QEEGCB course blueprint.

Day One will be a practical workshop in full cap EEG recording and preliminary EEG/QEEG analysis using WinEEG. In this workshop, participants will learn to record full cap EEG, with emphasis on accurate and clean recording. Additionally, fundamentals of artifacting and report writing will be reviewed.

Days Two, Three and Four will focus on EEG analysis, derived from single and multiple channel devices. Attendees will learn to review EEG with the WinEEG and NeuroGuide systems, also integrating LORETA analysis. Typical failure modes of the EEG will be reviewed, with some basic neuroanatomy and network theory incorporated. Most importantly, attendees will learn how to analyse raw EEG, as well as create useful summary data. ERP analysis will be reviewed, as will relevant scientific literature.

The online components of the course (completed after the 4-day classroom component) will consist of four one-hour video lectures (completed by students at their own pace) and two two-hour interactive webinars. Video lectures must be completed before their corresponding interactive webinar. Topics covered in the online components include the effects of medications/drugs on EEG, database analysis, ethical and professional conduct as well as further discussion on QEEG analysis and neurofeedback application. The online component of the course is necessary for those wishing to become a a QEEG Board Certified Diplomate (QEEGD). The webinars are currently scheduled to be held on Monday August 5 and 12 from 6pm to 8pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).

Implications for neurofeedback will be discussed in detail. Our major focus is on integrating understanding of symptom presentation, brain function and EEG into a coherent neurofeedback treatment strategy, and then monitoring that strategy throughout treatment and making adjustments when necessary.

Morning tea and afternoon tea will be provided as part of this course.
